Mayfair Monarch Memo

Volume 55, Number 91
November, 2004
NOVEMBER MEETING

The regular November meeting will be Wednesday, November 10, 2004 at Mayfair Lutheran Church beginning at 7:00 p.m. This will be a wrap up on the Salute to American Heroes Dinner held on November 7th, receiving the names of the Santa Families, planning the Mayfair Lions Club Annual Christmas Party and other pending matters. Please mark your calendars and attend.

LIONS OPEN UNIVERSITY

The University doors are now open for the Third Session on Saturday, November 20, 2004. WEB 101!

Currently there are only a small number of clubs in District 1-Awho have a web site. During the course of the morning, one of the presenters will put together a web site for at least two clubs – show them how to use and maintain it. But, you have to be there to get one!

Although Mayfair has a web site, there are things the club members should know about how it is put together and learn something about the “BOBBY STANDARD” as it relates to our website and how it accommodates the visually impaired or other persons who may have handicaps? Also you will have an opportunity to meet JAWS!

This and other facets of using a club web site as a communication tool will be discussed along with an adventure up into the Lions Clubs International Web Site to find out what tools are available to each club. Bring someone along who can become the LCI Information Person for the club!

Please send your reservations to District Leadership Chair Lion Ray Jachim: 708-496-1996 or rjmj@aol.com. Limited class size, so register early. No cost to any Lion who wishes to attend. 8 a.m. start! For further general information, contact Lion Judy Toft.

CARSONS COMMUNITY SALE DAY

The "Carson’s Community Sale Day" Coupons are out to the members and it is hoped that a large effort is being made to sell them as $5.00 per coupon book is retained by the Club and will help us in our efforts in the community. Contact Lion Judy Toft for further information.

ARIRANG LIONS CLUB

On Friday October 15, 2004, Lion Georg and myself as the Region 2 Chair spent a great evening with the Arirang Lions Club as they celebrated the Governor’s visit, had their new officers inducted and best of all, formed a new Leo Club for District 1-A. It was a special pleasure to see these young people stand up in front of about 100 people and be inducted as members of the Club and pledge their best to be involved as Leos.

A SPECIAL MESSAGE TO THE MAYFAIR LIONS CLUB

Lion Georg and myself will not be at the November meeting as we will be basking on the beach in sunny (we hope) Florida. It is finally vacation time for the Tofts and we are looking forward to a great week with some special Lion friends.

CLOSING THOUGHT

Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves.

--Sir James M. Barrie, British Writer (1860-1937)

That’s what Lions Do!
