Slowpoke Rodrequez is the cousin of Speedy Gonzalez, unfortunately he does not share the the gift of speed. Slowpoke, like his name suggests, is SLOW SLOW SLOW. He walks slowly and talks in a drawn out voice. He appears to be helpless, but looks can be deceiving. Slowpoke Rodriquez packs a gun when he leaves his hole and when a gun isn't handy he used hypnotic powers to control his opponents. He is slow and tired looking, and also has a large appetite. His personality was never really explored because he only appeared in two cartoons and he stared in neither. Even his character design sets him apart, most other mice in the Speedy series are chubbier and have rounded heads, much like Speedy. Slowpoke is slim and has a head that makes him resemble the mice Chuck Jones used throughout the 1940s.
Slowpoke was created by Friz Freleng in 1959 for the cartoon "Mexicali Shmoes" as a sort of end joke, he became a prominent player in his second and last appearance: "Mexican Boarders". Both of his appearances are highlights in the Speedy series and I personally would have loved for him to be more of a reoccurring character. Slowpoke cannot be seen on American television today because the Speedy series has been banned, please visit "Matthew Hunter's Unofficial Looney Tunes Page" to find out more about Speedy Gonzalez and the ban against him.

Comments: Slowpoke is more important to the plot in this cartoon. This cartoon shows that slowpoke is Speedy's cousin, and it shows that Slowpoke has the ability to use mind control.
