PIONEERS PREPARING OUR YOUTH FOR THE FUTURE |
|
The Boy Pioneer program will kick off the 2008-09 year on Tuesday September 2nd. The program is open to any boy (not just members of First Lutheran congregation) that will be in 1st grade or up and whether or not they’ve been involved in Pioneers in the past. This meeting, as will most all meetings this year, will run from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM and be held in the gym. We ask that parents come in and fill out the necessary registration forms at this time and to pay the $15.00 dues for each boy. Calendars for the first half of the 2008-2009 year will be available, as well as information on our planned events for the first half of the Pioneer year.
The Boy Pioneers would like to acknowledge our gratitude to Sandi Rothengass for her recent donation of a canoe, paddles, fire ring and fire grate to our program. These items will be put to good use in the years to come. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
The Boy Pioneers are looking for outdoor equipment. Our goal is to put together 4-5 “camp boxes”, each of which would have the appropriate equipment for 4 people. If you have any items such as small (two man) tents, tarps, lanterns, cook stoves, pots, pans, cooking utensils, metal plates, silverware, metal cups, skewers, pie irons, axes, bow saws, fire grates, wool blankets, ropes, cord or other such items (maybe even a canoe!!) and would like to donate them to the Boy Pioneers, please contact Kevin Keese at 248-6742 or Helen. We would only ask that the equipment be in a good usable condition. We do not need any sleeping bags! Thank you!
The Boy Pioneers have attained a nonvoting membership to Camp Oak Ridge, which is located about 35 minutes from our church near Palmyra, WI. This membership will allow any member's of our congregation to enjoy God’s wonderful creation at Camp Oak Ridge. The camp is open from April through October. There is a very simple method for use: contact Kevin Keese at 248-6742 or (262)325-5001 to arrange the pick up and return of the key to the camp. Since we only have one key to the camp, control is essential. Kevin will go over the camp rules with you when you pick up the key. Camp Oak Ridge has requested that a two week notice be given before use; again, contact Kevin and he will coordinate with the camp director to ensure no conflicts with other camp members. If you have any questions or want to learn more about Camp Oak Ridge, please contact any of the Pioneer leaders. |
