Newsletter - March 2005

We’ve just completed another very successful season of Grass, Ice and Snow Drag racing. We competed in the National Snowmobile Racing Association (NSRA) grass circuit - and several other events during the 2004 summer and fall season. We competed in JR’s Ice Drags circuit and the New Berlin Snow Drags this past winter.

The 2004 grass season began in June when we started working on our new Polaris 2004 Pro XR 440. We’ve never raced a 440 and found out quickly that clutching is everything with the smaller engines. We also raced our 2002 Polaris 600 XCSP and Polaris 500 Improver in several races. We spent a little time with some early season Track Dyno tuning at Reichard’s Performance Center.

We started our Grass Drag season early with SAM in Withee, WI. in August 2004. We focused primarily on our Polaris 440 but still raced the 2002 Polaris 600 XCSP at several events. It is still as strong as ever and very competitive - giving us numerous finals appearances. Our fall 2004-season highlights included our 1st place season finish in the NSRA 440 Stock Semipro class, and our 2nd place finish for the season in the Stock Semipro 500 class. It was a close season with lead changes after almost every one of the 5 races in the series. We tried our luck at Haydays (Sept/04) with the 440 but didn’t make it out of the Saturday heats. We still didn’t have the clutching right.

This past winter (Jan-Feb 2005) we raced in JR’s Ice Drags circuit (4 races in central Wisconsin) as well as the Snow Drags at New Berlin, WI. We took 1st in several classes at JR’s and won the overall High Points Driver trophy for the season. We also had a great showing at the New Berlin Snow Drags with four 1st place finishes.

Looking forward to upcoming 2005 grass drag season we are hoping to update some of our sleds - but we’ll still focus on stock classes. The new Polaris lineup for 2006 looks promising. Looking forward we anticipate we will continue to maintain our web page and especially the drag race schedules – it continues to be very popular and brings exposure to our great group of sponsors.

We need to close the season with a lot of “Thank Yous” to a lot of people. The past season would not have been possible or as successful without the help of our pit crew members. Special “thank you” to Jason Carstens who was both a driver and pit crewed at many of the races this year. Also a “thank you” to a great group of sponsors: Polaris and Tom and staff at G&G Powersports who keep us stocked with new parts as we had more than our share of “emergency” situations this past season, Craig at RPC for Dyno and clutching setup assistance, Hi-Performance Engineering, StudBoy, and Team Industries for quick delivery times, Digatron for their technical assistance once again, and Blast Graphics for some very nice posters and decal work. We had a very successful season and look forward to working with everyone again in the upcoming race season.
