My GG Grandfather Samuel FREEMANTLE married Elizabeth SHILLCOCK in parish church Gosberton on 20 May 1852. On the marriage certificate Elizabeth's father was named William. He was a farmer, resident in Gosberton. From the 1881 census Elizabeth was 64 yo & therefore born about 1817. I have been advised that William was married to Ann Eno in Donnington in 1805. My dilemma is that William SHILCOCK who married Ann Eno was only one L in Shilcock. The marriage certificate shows my William SHILLCOCK had LL. Can anyone confirm that the two Williams are the same person.
My GGrandfather Edward FREEMANTLE married Ann GRESSWELL in the parish church, Kirton in Holland on 8 June 1882. From the marriage certificate Ann's father was John GRESSWELL a cottager from Kirton. I have a photograph of Ann's grave stone in Gosberton Cemetery which says she died in 1935 aged 76 and therefore born in 1859.I have found a John and Joanna CRESSWELLl (perhaps spelling is wrong) both aged 65 in the 1881 census & therefore born about 1816. I believe that she was a widow, running a boarding house in Everton, Liverpool with relatives of the DONN family according to the 1881 UK Census. #2563 - NEIL KILMARTIN
SURNAMES: COOK(E), EAST
I am searching for any information that would take me back further than the marriage of my great X3 grandparents, William COOK and Elizabeth EAST, who married at St. Wilfrid's Church in Metheringham, on the 12th of April 1793. William was likely born in 1773, and E;izabeth in 1776. I have a fair bit of data regarding their descendants, but my family have been unable to break the barrier to their lineages, put in place by this couple. A generation or so later, the family added an E to the COOK name to differentiate it from another COOK family, ending up with the present day COOKE family name. My mother was Hilda COOKE. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
