SURNAME: MARTIN, ARMSTRONG
My gr.gr.gr. grandfather, William MARTIN, was from Holbeach. He left there
in 1847 with his wife (possibly maiden name ARMSTRONG.), and 7 children named:
John, Joe, Cathrine, Marie, Amy, Bell, and one unknown. My direct relation
was their youngest, John b.12 Oct. 1845. They left on a boat in 1847 from
London to Quebec, then to Crittenden county, Vermont, USA. I have William's
naturalization papers signed there by him on July 7th 1854 stating he was
51 years of age. The family finally settled in the Chicago area of Illinois.
His son John and daughter Amy moved to Reno Kansas, sometime after the Civil
war. When John died on April 9th, 1926 he was survived by a sister Marie
from Keneosha, Wisconson and another sister Catherine from Ann Arbor, Michigan.
The sister Amy who also moved to Kansas married a Kellog. Any help about
MARTIN or ARMSTRONG families would be appreciated.

Foster formerly TOMLINSON. A Family Bible shows that William was born 1854
and died 1932 and Eliza was born 1855 died 1941. Her death certificate shows
her name as Eliza Hill Foster otherwise Eliza Hill and she died in Scawby.
The Bible also shows that there were thirteen children born between 1877
and 1902. I have found the birth entries for the first four. All had the
middle name of HILL. I have been unable to find the birth entries for any
of the other children. I have found the 1881 census details in Elsham, that
shows the family called HILL. I have assumed that this could have been an
error on the part of the enumerator but I am not sure. William was born in
Brigg and Eliza in Broughton. Strangely, included in the family are two children,
Meriam Hill 6mths and Merian TOMLINSON 5 mths (I think Meriam should be Miriam
as shown in the Bible entries) I cannot find any other census entry in any
year that fits any of these facts. Neither can I find the birth entries or
the marriage entry for William and Eliza. I am interested in finding the
census entries for John William FOSTER or Eliza TOMLINSON for 1861 or 1871.
Any help would be appreciated.

SURNAME: BOTT
My BOTT family lived on the outskirts of the village of BLANKNEY, south of
Lincoln. I have information from the Parish Register back to 1769, the era
of my GGGGrandfather, with the family being farmers and renting land and
property from Chaplin of Blankney Hall. The farmhouse where my father was
born was known as The Green Man, previously a Coaching Inn. They farmed land
known as Hare Park and are briefly mentioned in Burke's Landed Gentry. The
family moved to Thimbleby House near Horncastle at the beginning of the 20th
C and dispersed from there in 1933 on the death of my Grandfather. I'm interested
in any relevant information that may be available, but especially details
about the lines of my GG Grandfather's brothers - there were 5, possibly
6 of them - to establish the where-abouts of other Bott families.

My grandmother Betsy FLETCHER married William Henry BALCH, a clerk but from
a fisherman's family, on 19 Feb. 1889 in the Parish Church, Great Grimsby.
She was aged 25, a spinster living at 72 Carter Gate, and her father was
Charles Fletcher, a Shepherd. Betsy died aged 51 in East Ham, Essex, after
having six children, my father being child No. 5 - aged 12. None of her children
ever spoke about her, so beyond her name and the fact that she was a Methodist
in later life, I know no more. I have one or two "possibles" from the
1881 Census, but that's all. I have quite a bit of information about the
BALCH family, which I am corroborating as I go through trying to find some
