Also in the PRO,London,"Feet of Fines,Vol.II Lincoln 1242-1272" -"SINKER,SINCKER (in Roughton Par) No. 38 at Westminster from Easter in 5 weeks,43 Henry III,18 May,1259.....Robert (not SINKER) and his heirs all the right and claim (to hunting) from brook of Ructon to the fishpond of SINKER and from SINKER along the old dike to the water of Wydme...and from Gaythusbrigg eastwards round by Sinkemilneholt & Calnecroft to SINKER northwards." Other SINKER references are:William SINIKER (sic) chr.26 Jun 1819 in Gainsborough.Father's name was Edward, mother was Sarah. Eliza SINKERSON chr.25 Mar 1827 in Skirbeck. Father was John and mother was Mary.

In 1327 Helen SCARLE, widow of Robert de SCARLE, sued John le GRAYNE, s/o Thomas le GRAYNE for trespass at South Scarle.
John, s/o Adam de NORTH SCARLE and Avice, his wife released to Thos. de SIBTHORPE property at Sibthorpe which said Thos. granted to his chantry there. In 1341 Simon de SIBTHORPE sued the chantry for the same.
In 1344 a John de SCARLE was made acolyte at Newark.
John de SCARLE, a native of North Scarle, a king's clerk, attained great preferments in Church and State, and was Lord Chancellor of England from 1399-1401. He bequeathed 40s. to the nuns of Broadholme.
In Sept. 1399 Archbishop ARINDEL had resigned the Chancellorship to Sir John SCARLE, an ecclesiastic and a lawyer who had more than 20 years of political life. He had been a Master in Chancery, Master of the Rolls, Cerk to Parliament, and several times a Receiver of Petitions. When the success of Henry, Duke of Lancaster, was assured as King, the Archbishop resumed the Office of Chancellor. SCARLE was appointed Chancellor, but soon resigned, remaining a member of the Council. He received a complimentary cask of wine per annum and in Sept. 1401 was made Archdeacon of Lincoln.

His parents were John and Ann CRAGG. John b.ca.1767, bur. 3 Nov. 1821 Caythorpe. Ann b. ca. 1767, bur. 30 Jan 1850 Caythorpe. Edna was d/o Thomas and Ann (CLARK) RICHARDSON. Thomas b. ca. 1822, Helpringham, Ann b. ca. 1821, Billingborough. Thomas possibly s/o Thomas and Mary RICHARDSON.
