Assault Shuttle
The UML assault shuttle is a direct descendant of the standard UML shuttle. The primary differences are a different cockpit, additional engines, and a gnarly paint scheme, otherwise the craft are identical. The assault shuttle cockpit supports a crew of one and has advanced sensors. Unlike the standard cockpit, it cannot be interfaced with the starship. The assault shuttle has three additional rocket engines attached to the rear of the craft, giving it much greater acceleration and top end speed. The shuttle is painted black and gray instead of the standard yellow and gray simply because it looks meaner, the coloration is in no way functional. The UML assault shuttle typically carries one of three modules, but it is often impressed into ferrying cargo when nothing else is going on. Two of the modules are drop pods, one for marines and one for frames. The third module is the assault pod. This pod is used for attacking ground targets after their point defense system has been deactivated or for engaging targets in flight. The assault pod contains four points that are stowed inboard and rotated outboard for firing. The forward two pods contain rotary medium lasers capable of firing four laser bursts a second. These bursts can be split down into twelve 1 cm antipersonnel bursts for strafing runs. The rear pods contain twelve missiles each.
