The Survey Corps
The mission of the Survey Corps is to seek out and explore new worlds for colonization by the minifigs of Legoland. The corps is sends out survey teams to potential star systems, systems that have a star with an acceptable spectral band and a high potential for planets.

Each survey team is comprised of six team members. Two members of the team comprise the flight crew. The first flight crew member, the starship commander, is an astrophysicist who will study the systems star and other planets. The second flight crew member, the shuttle pilot, is usually a physicist specializing in meteorology. Both flight crew members are capable of piloting either the starship or the shuttle. The landing crew is typically made up of two biologists, a geologist, and a team commander who is in charge of the complete survey.

Upon entering the system, the starship commander will immediately begin scanning the star system for planets that meet the requirements for human habitation. The commander will then lay a course for any acceptable planet or chart a course for a new system if none is found. The landing crew is awake during the entire trip inside of a set of three crew modules. They begin work as soon as a potentially viable planet is located. A scan of the planets surface and atmosphere is made as soon as the starship is in orbit. A landing crew is deployed if the planet is viable for minifig life to determine its usability. The crew maps weather patterns, land formations, mineral deposits, plant growth and type, and the presence of any animal life forms. The planet is immediately rejected if any intelligent life is located. Samples of the local flora and fauna are taken and stored in the spare containers brought along for examination in more advanced labs.

The typical survey ship carries three crew modules, four storage containers, a gas generation plant, a fusion power plant, a personnel carrier, and an engineering vehicle. The personnel modules include the daily quarters for the crew, a science lab, and an equipment module for tools and protective gear. The gas generation plant allows the survey team to condense breathable air and water for consumption and hydrogen fuel and reaction mass for the shuttle and starship. The fusion power plant provides power for the personnel modules, the gas generation plant and the two vehicles.
