Aaaaaarrrrggghhh!

Ahoy maties, welcome aboard me cybership. I'm the Dread Pirate Stephens and I'm hear to spin you yarns of the great days of piratin' the Seven Seas, capturin' Imperial gold, and discoverin' riches and adventures. Afore you can start, you must learn the ropes and charts at least well enough to cap'n yer ship. Once yer cap'n'n yer own pirate ship, you can sail the islands of Legonesia , conquer imperial fortresses, or take on the imperial fleet. But be wary me lads and laddies, the islanders and imperials are menacing enough, but no how and no one of your piraty friends can be trusted on yer stern. And, mark me well, there's a sea serpent in Legopellego, a crafty brute that'll rip yer bottom out. Enough of the wind in the sails, let's spin some yarns.

The first time I tangled with imperials was in August of '94. Aye, we were a scrappy lot then, but the imperials weren't much better. I had me an artist on board who painted two pictures of the battle. Both the first and second paintings showed the general confusion of the battle. We would have done better had one of the pirate ships not rammed another to stop her from boarding a Man-O-War that he wanted.

We met the imperials again one year later, once again contesting our rights to sail the seas. Me and the boys were heavily manned, but the imperials brought along the Black Swan and another big ship. One broadside from either and any of our ships would be on its way to Davy Jones locker. My artist managed to paint the opening of the battle and was quick enough to capture Dread Pirate Neils assault on the Black Swan with three modified Renegade Runners.

Twice now I've met the imperials in the early spring and both times it was menacingly plain that they had the upper hand. Be wary me fellows for there's one Imperial Captain Becky out there who's taken more than her share of pirates. In one battle alone, she sank a Cut Throat Clipper (similar to a Red Beard Runner), a Black Seas Barracuda, and boarded and captured a Skulls Eye Schooner all with only two Imperial Flag Ships. So if you see her colors lining up on you, you might want to be thinking about sailing in a different tack.

Well we met again this year at GenCon and ran a nasty game that was essentially a free-for-all. Pirates and imperials alike were divided into pairs and set off to gather as much treasure as possible, either from the islands or the other players. Players were free to make and break alliances at will and it happened a good number of times. Four islands were used, pictures of two of them can be found in the Legopellego. Each island had its own perils ranging from animated skeletons to a sea serpent. Some pirates even had an iron sided paddle wheeler, see the section on the Sea Serpent for rules.
