A Distant Galaxy Far in the Future
Legokind originated on a small planet on the outskirts of a twin armed galaxy. As a race, Legokind was typically peaceful with only brief periods of war during the Castle, Pirates, and Wild West periods of their history. As the race evolved, both socially and technologically, they soon ran out of living space and resources on their homeworld. They developed cities under the sea and even a few space colonies on nearby moons and asteroids to deal with the population problem but soon outgrew their newly acquired space. In an effort to avoid imposing population control sanctions, Legokind began to search beyond their solar system for other habitable planets. To this effect, the entire planet aligned under a single government known as the United Minifigs of Legoland, or UML for short, and the Space Corps was born.

The Space Corps is divided into two segments, the Survey Corps and the Marine Corps. The Survey Corps mission is to locate, explore and evaluate new planets for use by Legokind. The Marine Corps mission is to protect the civilian population from internal and external attack and to provide rescue services for civilian space ships.

The UML standardized on a single starship design simply called a UML starship. This keeps maintenance costs at a minimum and ensures that proper spare parts and service are available at most ports. In addition, the UML also standardized on a single shuttle known as a UML shuttle for similar reasons. Both shuttles and starships are sold to corporations, governments and individuals. Commerce between the homeworld and the colonies is thriving and only a few ships are still controlled by the UML Space Corps.
