10/23/00 Up to 18psi on the Lebaron now. The Head Gasket is holding fine and it pulls like crazy!! I'll have more on this awsome cam in a few days. Plus, I think I finally fixed the speed sensor connector on the Shelby Z.
10/19/00 The Lebaron starts again with a new trans mount, head gasket, and S2 camshaft ( roller version of the S60 ). I reused the ARP studs, like your supposed to, but use the stock head bolt washers rather than the ARP washers. The middle 8 are at 85ft/lb and the corners are at 75. Let's hope she'll hold together.
10/12/00 Started pulling of the head and Also the TAFT S2 cam is here early!
10/10/00 Head gasket is going bad on the Lebaron. Oil out of the conrner! Before this I had ordered a TAFT roller cam for the Lebaron
10/1/00 Found a One way valve from McMaster Car that fixes the PCV valve. Will post part number later.
9/4/00 12.629@105.06
The Lebaron ran it's first 12 sec ET with a pair of slicks borrowed from Jason Trotter and 26psi of pure boost!
9/3/00 Eariler, the Daytona Shelby Z is kind of going down hill. I had a axle seal replaced and I found out that cylinder #2 is at 90, while the rest are at 140ish.
7/24/00 After 4 night of working by myself, and the good old cherry picker, I got the FM A413 installed. It's hilarious and a serious race peice.
7/14/00 Back from SDAC-10! I'll have to put some pictures up here or somthing. It was a good time and I met so many people that I've only known through e-mail. Also, Chicago SDAC RULES!! Before going I got the exhaust and the power steering done. The Dynomax aluminized pipe is good stuff. Plus I weled it up using some stainless 308L wire. Durring the event I changed thermostats. I didn't race the Lebaron, since I was 8 hours away from home! But it made it back fine and as soon as I parked the gas tank sprung a leak!!! But one positive point is that I got to bitch to FM about my trans in person.
7/7/00 The FM trans acutally came!! but the converter is not here!?
7/5/00 After taking off of work for a few days to setup for the 4th of july party, it all went down well and we had 75 people! Now I have a lot of left over chemicals....
6/22 Alot has happened with both cars. Lebaron: I found the turbo exhaust housing was loose and replaced some of the
missing bolts with stainless 8m x1.25 20mm long bolts. I am currently waiting for a power steering pulley and replacing the
pump. While waiting I am going to redo the exhaust system and throw in the bolt in the middle of the turbo. I got the guage
pod mounted alot better and now the EGT guage seems to behave correctly.
Last saturday (6/17) the LB Fast Passed emissions (
HA HA!! ) I broke down and ordered a A413 with manual valve body and Stage II torque converter from FM. After 7 fu*king weeks FM finally says that my tranny will ship this week. So much for the original 3 week quote. Tomorrow I will call to make sure!! GRRR!! I have a feeling it will come the day before the party. But I still plan on driving this to SDAC-10.
The Shelby Z is a larger story. She's hating life lately. But ran the best of 95mph at
the track 2 weeks ago. The front mount was loose, one bolt in the sway bar was missing, the boble strut is loose, the driver's side of the tranny leaks from the axle seal and the intermediate shaft bearing is screwed. As I write this the Shelby Z is at a local shop getting a new pass. side axle, new intermediate shaft bearing, new ball joints, and possibly the leak fixed. I don't have time to do this stuff myself since it may be a few days to get the power steering pulley for the LB. But while at the shop I found that the inner sway bar
attaching plate and bolt has broken off the K-member. That's ok, I'll weld it up tonight. I tried replacing the fuel pump in the Shebly, but I WILL snap off the two studs, which I don't want to do right now!
Luke and I have a trailer and have modified it to carry cars. We will be testing it this weekend.
4/1/00
Great Lakes Dragaway Opens on April1!! 10am to 5pm racing is free, just pay spectator admission which is $11 for this week!!
3/28 Setup a capture card to take still frames from video. The below pics are from a VHS tape of my cars.
3/26 I replaced the rubber section of the oil feed line with some -6 Aeroquip hose.

3/23 I installed a 2 5/8" Fuel Pressure guage on the hood of the LeBaron. (Green back-lit)

2/29/00 Wes and I installed new sway bar busings. It pretty much cleared up most of wheel hop.
2/12/00 Wes installed a new clutch in the Shelby Z for me.
2/11/00 I had the Med Port Catheter removed.(day surgery)
1/16/00 The Daytona's SELF MODIFYING exhaust system!

While driving to a party at 2am, I got on it in 2nd gear and suddenly the tach spun nailed 5500rpm in no time and the exhaust got loud. Af first I thought I lost the clutch, but then I knew it was the exhaust - Because I could get 10psi of boost by 2300rpm. However I had no idea that the pipe completely broke off the turbo. Yes, no kidding, I was running ZERO exhaust out of the turbo. I was supprisingly quiet. It took quite a while to weld back together, the metal was fractured and rusty. At the same time I found the cat was plugged up so Wes and I replaced it with some 2.5" straight pipe. That woke the beast up.
11/28 Been busy with hospital, work, and friends. Now Im finally updating this stuff.
11/07 The Lebaron ran 13.623 @ 102.81 at Great Lakes Dragaway. Now the tranny is slipping shifting into gears.
7/31 The Mopar Festival at Great Lakes! And the Mopars in the Moonlight car show at Tash Motors in Elkhorn WI
Click here: MOPAR Festival to read about it.
7/13 Setup the 2 stage Boost control w/ alcohol. The microswitch is on the shifter. Hit it and the boost increases and the alcohol/water kicks in at the same time. It is very much like a small NOS kit.
7/10 The Chicago Land SDAC Meeting. I got to meet Paul Smith, Angelo Taylor for the first time and talk to some other cool members I haven't seen for a while. The sound of many turbo 2.2s spooling down the parking lot was somthing I just haven't heard before. Really impressive.
7/4 My BIG FIREWORKS BASH. Everything turned out excelent. Nobody and nothing got hurt.
7/1 Started using a McMaster valve on the Lebaron. Nice but too sensitive.
6/14 Went to Chrguy's (Gerry) house for a sad SDAC party. But it was a really good time and I met really cool people.
6/3 My FM Inforcer 2 Turbo that I bought from a listmember came!
5/?? Fixed some stuff on the Shelby and the Lebaron. Both cars are running great now.
4/27 Ordered $1300 in parts from Forward Motion. Pistons, injectors, bearings, etc.
4/24 My pals installed a muffler on the Lebaron. I don't waste time!!!
4/22 I got out of the Hosptial, about time! BTW: PRIMCOR RULES! Still need to go back periodically for PRIMCOR injection. It has the nasty side effect of lowering my blood pressure to like 83/27. he he I can take it!!
4/16 ECG shows that I am doing very close to NORMAL. 45% Infraction. You can live a perfectly normal life at 45%. It's like Volumetric Efficiency for you car freaks. I was 10% when entering the hospital.
4/15 11 hours later. Echo cardiagram pefromed.
4/14 My Parents and friends were told I needed a transplant before I could ever leave the hospital. They didn't tell me this at the time
4/7 Starting my stay in the Intensive Care Unit at Waukesha Memorial Hospital, not doing really well and suffering from Congestive Heart Failure.
4/3 $600 in parts came from Summit. Parts for the Daytona and LeBaron. KYB shocks/struts, 3 guages, and a MSD 6AL
3/30 I started feeling sick
3/29 My 23 Birthday
3/15 Drove 4 hours to Brian Rauchwarter's house for his SDML/SDAC party. Very cool time.

3/14 My MSD 6A died. Now found out it was caused by a broken +12v line.
1/30 Bought the Shelby from Wes Grueninger when the motor was in peices. LOL
1/10 I drove the Lebaron down to Wes's barn. Glad I made it, then we started to replace the fuel pump. It took 11 hours of work. First we drained the fuel tank by running the pump, by running a wire from the + side of the battery to the + side of the ignition coil ( the Z1 circuit ) and running the fuel line into a container. Next we started in on the fuel lines and made a run to the parts store. The larger lines are 5/16" and the smaller 1/4" The vapor line was like 3/16". Next one of the studs that the straps thread on to scheered at the body. But we got the tank out. Next we tried to move the lock ring, but it was quite rusted. A Big Hammer and a flat screwdriver did the trick. We stuffed the new pump assembly in there and reinstalled the lock ring. To replace the stud we first removed the rear seats. Then Wes drilled up next to the stud to see where the stud is located. The stud head is pancaked inbetween the unibody and sheet metal for the frame. So, we ran and got a cobolt coated 5/16" bit and drilled the hell out of the stud. Luckily the angle was right and the metric bolt fit nicely. Next I weled the stainless bolt to the body. That was fun to do becuase getting the mig tip in there was hard to do. The welding started all the solvent, from drilling, on fire too!! Well with that nicely in place we threw on the rear seats, tank, fuel lines and new filter and all was done. Sorry I forgot to take pictures!!!
1/3/99 My car won't start! Wes hits the gas tank and the car starts.
10/14 Driving to work....pop.. OH CRAP there goes the head gasket. No big deal - fixed it in 2 days with Wes's awsome help. Special thanks to his father for towing it.

This is a pic of the top of the gasket ( facing the head ) and inbetween cyl #1 and #2. Note how it looks like the ring was bent outward. Can this be caused by detonation? After close inspection Wes, I, et al believe that this was just a defective gasket. Yes, the night before I was racing and running some serious boost on a non-intercooled motor. But the gasket went after a 50+ mile drive and one thermal cycle. It blew 1 mile from work and there was no indication of it being blown before. Anyway, the Felpro 2.2 gasket we installed will never do this because the entire area is part of the metal ring.
10/13 With a fabricated 2.5" exhaust that exits before the rear axle and some other simple mods I went to the track. Ran the best of a 14.26@94.45. This was with a mix of 112 octane and 93 octane.
8/30 Went down to Great Lakes for the Mopar Festival. Saw Tom's 12 second S60 Shelby Charger. Him and I were the only 2.2 turbo down there. Plus I got my best run of 15.024@89.74. I picked up 3mph from my previous best because of the alcohol injection. I had a problem with preventing spikes and this very strange cut out durring the 2-3 shift and right at the end of the track. My EGTs were abit low too. Perhaps if traction was abit better and I could stay at WOT, I could of ran faster.
You Hard-Core Mopar lovers will like this Picture. Its a good pic, anyway!
When this Real Race car started up, you don't hear it, you feel it. Nice blower on it too! I believe this guy was in the 8s. Note the end of the Daytona on the right side.
8/26 Finally got my Alcohol/Water injection running. Boost up to 17psi seems fine.
7/29 My rear sway bar add on is FINALLY done!! 51"x3"x1/4" mild steel. Almost neutral handling. I recomend this for any Chrysler with the inverted U rear axle. Note the two outer U-bolts are now moved 12.5" in from the edges.
7/18 Minivan Break upgrade went flawlessly. $150 total price. '89 parts and a 24mm master.
Here's some pictures of my Office at TIP technologies. I started the software engineering posistion on May 11th.
