Tabatowski

I am trying to find a relation between my name "TABAT" and the name "TABATOWSKI". Family legend has it that the name was shortened at some time to hide the obvious Polish origins. If possible, I'd like to trace back at least three or four generations before my grandfather Wilbur.

I am searching for the parents of my g-g-g-grandmother, Elizabeth Osetta TAGE who was born circa 1820 in Connecticut or New York. She married Hirum BOOMHOWER of a New York palatine family and they moved to Wisconsin in the 1860's. They lived in Fond du Lac County for a time and later moved to Outagamie County where Hirum apparently died and was buried. Elizabeth then lived for a time in Tigerton, Shawano County and is said to be buried at the Union Cemetary there. I am researching the family of Albert TETEK (or Teteak) and his wife Elizabeth Kokstan. They came to Wisconsin in 1856 from Bohemia and settled in the Cooperstown and Gibson area, near Manitowoc. They had children Anna, Joseph, Catherine, Barbara, Frank, Mary, Antone, Rose and Emma. I am trying to locate where they lived in Bohemia and any descendants to share photos and information. Looking for info on Peter TRACY, born 1813, died 3/29/1893 (wife Mary E. Kenney-Tracy, born 1824, died 1/1/1901) who homesteaded 60 acres in Ellington, Outagamie County, Wisconsin around 1852. They and some of their children are buried at St. Patrick's Cemetary in Stephensville, county of Outagamie. George William TRAUGOTT lived in West Allis, Wisconsin from late 1940's until about 1970. His mother - Martha Burgeson (remarried name) of Tigerton, Wisconsin, died in early 1970's. His father - Charles Traugott - no information. Doris Emily TRAUGOTT, born Doris Emily Burmeister in Milwaukee, Wisconsin about 1914. Parents were Helen and Charles Burmeister. I am seeking information about my great grandfather, Moses Benjamin TUCKER who served in Co. I of the 4th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry, which was later converted to a cavalry unit. Emaline who???? My ggrandmother Amanda MCINTYRE was born in Farmington, Jefferson Co., Wisconsin in 1847. She married James Henry TURNER who was born 1835 in Watertown, Jefferson Co., Wis. Amanda's father was Annias MCINTYRE (spelled in some census' MACKINTIRE, in 1850 census this MACKINTIRE family listed as MCINTOSH.) Annanias homesteaded land in Milford, Jefferson, WI in 1848, and was buried there in 1859. At death he left wife Emaline ?? and children Abram, Hannah, Alonzo, William (who md Clarissa ?), Henry and Amanda. All of these children should have married in Jefferson County, but I find no record of such in the Wisconsin marriage index. I would really appreciate ANY information at all on early Milford or Farmington, cemeteries in Milford or anything relating to the families of MACKINTIRE, MCINTYRE, TURNER. Uelman

John Adam UELMAN, b. 1806. Immigrated through New York in July 1857 and applied for citizenship in Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin in May 1858. Wife was Margaretha LENEZ or LENARTZ. They had a son named Peter UELMAN, b. in 1852 in Prussia. Peter was a surveyor. His wife was Mary Schleiss, d. of Josef Schleiss. They m. in Menomonie Falls, Michigan while he was logging. Her parents are buried in St. Michael Cemetery in Washington County. Would like to find where both of these families came from. The Schleiss' were probably from Austria and arrived her in 1870's. I'm hunting for anyone knowing anything about William VALLEY. My grandfather was born prior to 1990 somewhere in Wisconsin (possibly Iron River or Green Bay). He frequently fabricated vital information so I can only give possibilities. Father's name William VALLEY. Mother's name Clara JOHNS(T)ON. VanHorn

Isaac VanHorn is on the 1870 Linwood, Portage County, Wisconsin census. He is living with Stephen and Sarah VanHorn COLEMAN. That census says he was born c1797 in Pa. which is where Sarah was born in 1841. I am would like to know if Isaac is her father. I have also heard her father's name is Benjamin VanHorn. VanOrder

Looking for Nathaniel VanORDER, Born abt. 1823 in New York. Father was Walter VanORDER b. abt. 1780. Both lived in LaPorte, IN 1840 - 1850. Nathaniel married Emily VanWORMER 1846 (b.abt. 1824, OH) Nathaniel and Emily had 3 sons - Americus 1848, Henry 1851(2), Charles 1854(5).

Emily VanWORMER VanORDER remarried to Charles D.P. Olmsted in 1863 in Branch Co., MI. Both were from Stueben Co., IN at the time of the remarriage. Nathaniel's and Emily's sons ended up living, marrying, raising families, and dying in Branch Co., MI.

Have had information that a Nathaniel VanORDER died in Portage County, Wisconsin. Looking for specific info to see if this is my Nathaniel as I loose track of him after 1850. Any info greatly appreciated by Julie VanOrder. (1/00)

Looking for information about Henry VAN WORMER who settled in the New Lisbon - Mauston area in the late 1800's. He's buried in the New Lisbon Cemetery. I'm also looking for information on a Frank LILLIS who was born somewhere in MN but married and had children in Viroqua, Vernon County, Wisconsin, in the mid-late 1800's. Adriaan VERHAGE and wife Nancy?(Neeltje) nee HUIBREGTSE are in the 1850 Wisconsin census for Sheboygan County, Holland. In the 1860 census Adriaan is listed at age 75 with his son, Lawrance, and family in Sheboygan County, Lima. Adriaan and Neeltje were born in Westkapelle, Zeeland, Netherlands. Von Krees

Searching for any records of immigrant from Austria named Louis Von Krees. The Von was dropped when Louis arrived in 1893. Then because of mispronounciation of the name, Krees was changed to Kress. In 1894 Louis' wife, (name unknown) and 2 children, Mary and Joseph came over. They lived in Marshfield, Wisconsin. I believe they had 7 more children. Norman WESTCOTT moved to Wisconsin from New York ???, married Elizabeth Johnson, born in Ireland, ???. I found Norman and his family on 1880 Census in Jackson County, Garden Valley Township. Elizabeth Johnson died February 1904 and is buried at Stanford Cemetery in Jackson County. WHITESIDES, William, born approx. 1808-1812, died 1879. Teamster and land owner. Lived in Hazel Green, Grant County, Wisconsin at time of 1850 U.S. census. Married wife Mary CURRY in 1846 in Grant County. Sons John Alexander Whitesides, George Watson Whitesides, Sarah Whitesides, William Whitesides. William (the father) could have been born in New York or Canada. Looking for property records from 1840s. William and family left for California in approx. 1852. Looking for birth certificate for Sarah Ferlura Whitesides, born Feb. 1849 in Hazel Green, Grant County, Wisconsin. Looking for birth or death certificate for William Whitesides (son) born in 1849, probably in Grant County, date of death unknown. Winn

John WINN, born about 1820, came to Jefferson County, Wisconsin from England with his wife, Harriet, and their two children in 1850. An 1850 census has them living in the Palmyra Township. An obituary also records them living in Watertown and later moving to Lake Mills, Wisconsin. Their children were Sarah (born abt. 1848) and John (born April 29, 1849). They later had a third child, Frank. I have info up to present on the descendents of the son, John. He married Harriet Clark-Thorne and they lived out their lives in Whitewater, Walworth Co., Wisconsin. In addition to Harriet's daughter from her first marriage, they had three sons: Fred (b. 06-06-1875 d. 07-11-1904), Edward (b. 12-06-1879 d. 07-09-1938), and Howard (b.12-25-1888 d. 02-25-1974). I don't know what happened to Sarah and the only information I have on Frank is that he was living in Upland, California in 1928. This is all the further I have this family traced back. I am searching for descendants of Daniel WITHEE of Grant County, Wisconsin. Daniel was the father of Andrew B. WITHEE of Crawford County, who held many village offices in Lynxville, Wis. Andrew was married to Margaret HAYDEN of Raymond, ME and they had 6 children: Sarah,1854, Andrew C, 1857, Jessie B,1859, George M, 1860's, Orris M,1866, Abba, 1868. I know the descendents of Jessie B. (I am her grandaughter). Any other info would be much appreciated. Also I am interested in Jessie B. Withee's early marriage to a Mowry, perhaps over in Iowa. August was born in Sassenhagen, Pommern, 9-29-1838. He was married in Gross Wachlin, Pommern, to Wilhelmine B"uttner, 11-12-1886. He immigrated from there. Robert migrated to Oklahoma Territory and married Anna Belle GOIN about 1897. This is all the informarion I have on John YOUNG.
