I received a letter from a man in Norway looking for his 3x grandfather, Johan HARTVIGSEN DARBO, born in Norway 4 Jun 1854, the son of Hartvig HANSEN and Karen L JOHANSDATTER EBERLIN. Johan HARTVIGSEN (DARBO) came to the US on the SS Tasso in 1881, and is supposed to have settled in Baldwin, St. Croix Co., Wisconsin. He had 3 brothers who also came to WI: Olaus HARTVIGSEN, Edvard HARTVIGSEN and Karl Henrik HARTVIGSEN. I cannot locate any of these names in the Pre-1907 Death or Marriage Indexes. The names DARBO and EBERLIN may be the names of the farms in Norway, but they were also sometimes taken as the surname. Can anyone help with these surnames? Thanks in advance from Carol Jones Wilson.
