Here are a number of German or German genealogical sites which I have found quite interesting, unique, or particularly useful in my own family history research. - The German Migration Resource Center encourages a world-wide exchange of genealogy information about German immigrants. Visitors may post or read an Immigrant Query, post or locate a German Family Reunion or Festival, and order genealogy books.
- Do you think you might be related to German nobility? Check out the German
Nobility Index, a Web page with a search engine to a database on the
current heads of Germanic noble families (this includes noble families outside of
the borders of present-day Germany) with biographies, pictures, arms, etc.
- Everton has a helpful letter writing aid at their Web site. If you need to correspond with someone in Germany, requesting genealogical information, you will find these form
letters useful. These were compiled by the staff of the Family History Library, and come complete with English translations.
- Schroeder & Fuelling GbR of Gummersbach, Germany specializes in 18th - 20th century German emigration, family history research, and adoption research. They may also be contacted via e-mail or by post at: Schroeder & Fuelling GbR, P.O.Box 100822, D-51608 Gummersbach, Germany.
- The German Genealogy Home Page servers are located in Kerpen and Giessen (Germany) and Clovis, California (USA). The documents on this site are written in English, German or both mixed.
- The Odessa Group has produced a Web page with information on Europe, with a special focus on Germans from Russia, Odessa ... a German-Russian Genealogical Library. This includes a "library" of references on the subject, with pointers to other genealogical sources, and pointers to other Internet sources of information on Eastern European
countries.
- For German researchers worldwide, consider joining the German Interest Group - Wisconsin, PO Box 2185, Janesville, Wisconsin USA 53547-2185. This group publishes a newsletter and sponsors workshops. For more information see their Web site at www.rootsweb.com/~wigig/
- Read the latest news, reports, analyses, and broadcast information from Deutsche Welle, the German radio and television broadcasting network.
