We’ll have our usual roundtable discussion of scanners, frequencies, and users.  This meeting will feature opportunities to see the BC996D in action.

Certainly, if you have a scanner you’d like assistance with you may bring it so others can help out.  Please mention it to me at the beginning of the meeting so we can find the appropriate people to assist.  Bring your manual, since we don’t have these things quite memorized yet.

;-)

Care to host the Spring 2007 meeting?  See below…
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meetings
take place twice a year around the beginning of May and the beginning of October. Should we have them more often? Let me know! A notice of time and place will be posted here and to the list at least 2 months in advance (that's the goal!).

For those who haven't been to a meeting, this is a fairly informal gathering. There is really virtually no "club business" like you might be used to from other meetings. We typically will have any topic presentations first, do an "around-the-room" where members introduce themselves and bring up any info or questions they care to. There's opportunity check out each other's radios, scanners, freq or unit lists (bring copies), vehicle installations, software, etc. Meetings last a couple hours, so those that must leave early will be given first opportunity to talk, if requested. Occasionally there will be a tour of a radio-related facility before or after the meeting.

Bring:

·         Enthusiasm! (If you don't, it will be provided.)

·         Scanners. (Do ya think?) Two-way and ham radios are always cool

·         Handouts. Lists of this and that.

·         Throw-aways. Give away your old club magazines or trade rags, publications, connectors, manuals, etc.

·         Items for sale. You bet! Start a bidding war!

·         Note taking devices. Pencils, paper, laptop, palmtop. We have answers for questions you never thought to ask! Eat your heart out, Radio Shack.

·         Your spouse or kids as long as they don't snore too loudly.

HOST A MEETING, TOUR, OR DISCUSSION TOPIC

Host a meeting!

We have a standing invitation to use Paragon Development Systems Auditorium, but we'd like to have some other locations considered. I think we have a fair number of folks near the Fox Valley, we haven't had a meeting there, yet (hint!). If you have any ideas, please forward them to me.

Location requirements would be:

·         Seating and table space for 20-30. Past events have averaged near 20.

·         Parking for as many vehicles.

·         Power availability. Those of us who use laptops or set up scanners bring our own extension cords and strips.

·         Permission from the site authority for a Sunday gathering, 11am to 4pm for cushion.

·         Restrooms.

Bonuses:

·         Location related to radio.

·         Video equipment for showing computer output  or video tapes.

·         Sound system.

·         Soda machine / food.

Host a tour!

This is an invitation to show off someplace interesting to scanner-oriented folks with similar interests. Past tours included Volk Field, Town of Brookfield FD, Fitchburg FD, Dane Co Dispatch, NWS Sullivan, and Milw Co Sheriff Dispatch. Be inventive. Anyplace that sports radio equipment, shows how or why it's used is more than welcome. Ideally we'd be able to visit in correlation with a meet
