The property is about 180 miles from our permanent
residence in Franklin, WI, a southwest suburb of Milwaukee. The trip takes
about three hours and fifteen minutes depending on traffic and weather conditions.
The path I usually follow from Franklin is as follows:

Follow I94 west toward Madison.
Take the I90 east route to the Hy.12/18 exit.
Follow Hy.18 west to Dodgeville.
Continue west on Hy.18 to Fennimore.
Go north on Hy.61 when it intersects Hy.18.
Continue north on Hy.61 past Boscobel.
At the intersection of Hy.61 & 60, turn left.
Continue on Hy.60 for 0.1mi. to the junction
with Hy.E.
Turn right onto Hy.E.
Continue on Hy.E to the Hy.131 intersection.
Turn left and continue to Steuben.
At the intersection of Hy.179, turn right.
Continue for 1.1mi. to the Kickapoo Valley Road.
Turn left and drive 2.7mi. to the Barnes property.

The Scenic Route
The following route will take an extra 5-10
minutes from your life but pays well in natural beauty
- Start by driving to Dodgeville by following the
first three steps of the route given above.
- At the intersection of Hy.18 and Hy.23 (in Dodgeville)
turn right onto Hy.23 and proceed north.
- Drive 5.6 miles to the intersection with Hy.130.
- Turn left and follow Hy.130N for 10.9 miles.
- At the intersection with Hy.133, take Hy.133S.
toward Avoca.
- Follow Hy.133S through Avoca and all the way to
the intersection with Hy 61 in Boscobel.
- Turn right onto HY.61, cross the river and enter
Crawford County.
- At the intersection with Hy.60, turn left and
follow Hy.60 toward Wauzeka.
- You will intersect with Hy.131 in 8.3 miles.
- Turn right onto Hy.131 and travel north 2.4 miles
to the Kickapoo Valley Road.
- Turn left onto Kickapoo Valley Road and travel
3.7 miles to the Barnes' property.
