| As the sun sets, the dome of the Gemini North 8 meter telescope is opened. The unique structure has side doors that open the telescope to the elements from the side as well as from the open observing slot. Gemini is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and is the United States' largest publicly-funded telescope. |
