§ Layout editor for the news, business and sports departments (2003-present).

§ Photo editor and photographer. Directed the work of the Journal Sentinel photography staff and edited photos for the daily news sections (1986-2003). Duties included photo direction, editing and caption-writing for all photos on deadline

§ Science writer. Contributed deadline stories and photos about major astrophysics research in Antarctica. I’ve also reported on advances in adaptive optics and extra-solar planet hunting. I have written travel stories about Space Camp in Florida and the New Mexico Skies guest observatory.

1985–1986

Associated Press, Chicago bureau

§ Photo editor. Directed staff photographers covering Chicago-area news and sports events. Edited film and wrote captions under immediate deadline pressure in a highly competitive environment.

§ Operated the 18-state regional AP Laserphoto distribution network.

§ Major contributor to the Associated Press Cleveland bureau.

§ Major contributor to US News and World Report from the Ohio area.
