This is a combination of three exposures of 5 minutes each, taken at New Mexico Skies in May of 2003. It was taken with a Nikon Coolpix 5700 at ISO 200 with noise reduction turned on. The images were layered in Photoshop, with each layer added as a 50 percent transparency value. The layers were merged, or flattened, before adding the next layer.  Compare this photo with the one-hour shot taken with the medium format Hasselblad and one hour of exposure.

The camera was mounted piggyback on a Losmandy G-11 which was also carrying a Nikkor 800mm f/5.6 lens.
