This is a one-hour exposure of the heart of the Milky Way, as seen from New Mexico Skies in late May, 2003. It was shot on medium format Kodak E200 slide film, using a Hasselblad 500 C/M and an 80 mm lens set at f/4. The slide was scanned by talented astrophotographer Jeff Ball, who taught me a great deal about astrophotography, equipment, and the patience needed to make it all work. The image at full resolution is nearly 55 megabytes, far too big to include on a web site. To see the detail from this image, a mouse-over will show detail from the Cat's Paw area.
