Apollo 11 landing site

A day or two before the first quarter is the best time to look for the Apollo 11 landing site.

Look for the trio of large craters named (from bottom) Catharina, Cyrilius and Theophilus.

North of these craters is a highland area bordering the Sea of Tranquility and above it is small, bright crater called Moltke, 6 kilometers across, which is the closest easily visible crater close to the landing area. Sharp optics and steady sky will reveal the craters Armstrong, Collins and Aldrin, three miles across and half the size of  Moltke.

Camera: Nikon D100, with a Brandon 12mm eyepiece using eyepiece projection. Exposure was 1/15 sec at ISO 400.
