In the bright mid-morning sunshine of Nov. 9, a waning crescent moon occulted Jupiter. The event was easily visible, in this case, an eight-inch Newtonian reflector. This sequence, covering a two minute span, was taken with a Nikon D100 set at ISO 200 and shot at 1/80 of a second for each frame. The images were heavily processed. The original frames showed low contrast and much noise (daylight) to signal. |
