When the moon is seven days old (about half phase), the Alpine Valley is at its best. This valley is about 180 kilometers long and has a small rille (unfortunately, unresolved in this shot) that runs its length. Observing the rille is a test for good seeing.

Telescope: 10" f6.8 Newtonian

Mount: Losmdany G11

Camera: Nikon Coolpix 5700 with a Brandon 24mm ocular and a Scopetronix Digi-T adaptor

Camera data: 1/10 of a second at f/4.0, 48.5 mm, ISO 100
