When the moon is seven days old (about half phase), the Alpine Valley is at its best. This valley is about 180 kilometers long and has a small rille (unfortunately, unresolved in this shot) that runs its length. Observing the rille is a test for good seeing. Telescope: 10" f6.8 Newtonian Mount: Losmdany G11 Camera: Nikon Coolpix 5700 with a Brandon 24mm ocular and a Scopetronix Digi-T adaptor Camera data: 1/10 of a second at f/4.0, 48.5 mm, ISO 100 Five images, stacked in Adobe Photo shop using the "multiply" filter. No sharpening.
